Summer spells chilled sangria by the pool and comfort-over-style dressing. The summery eyelet dresses and breezy kaftans are a given and so are the shorts.
However, the PJs seem to be out of the boudoir this summer and it won’t be out of place to wear them with a crop top and a blazer for a daiquiri night with your besties. One look at the spring summer and fall winter images pouring in and one can easily sense the slip dresses making their way into our collective sartorial slipstreams. Layer them with a sharp suit jacket or a bolero or a fringed gilet and you’re summer ready. A printed pantsuit worn with wide-legged or flared trousers is also a cool pick for a sultry night out in town and one can’t definitely go wrong with the gingham or striped athleisure dresses or body-con ones with cut-out details. Light weight knits and laser-cut perforated leather dresses maybe too hot for Bombay’s unforgiving weather but their au courant versions in asymmetrical, off-shoulder and deconstructed styles make them summer-relevant.
Sporty chic isn’t dying out anytime soon and it’s perfectly fine to wear your midi skirts and denim jumpsuits with a pair of white sneakers. It’s okay to ditch the high heels and channel your inner Coachella girl in a pair of nifty espadrilles.
The classic Chambray shirt and shirt dresses can never go out of style! So play with its myriad variations and give your own spin to the Boyfriend chic. Also, off-shoulder looks seem to be the summer black and don’t shy away from flashing your shoulders with off-shoulder dresses and athletic jumpers.
We might cringe at the thought of layering in summer but you can always throw on a souvenir bomber jacket over a crop top for a movie night to shield yourself from the oppressive air conditioning.
Oversized sunnies and some statement jewellery like an ear cuff or an Art Deco bracelet are all the things you need this summer besides of course, the addictive company of your girl pals. Have a chic and cheerful summer!
