Made to makeup!

Almost every girl worth her salt loves makeup. And I am no exception. Paying attention to minutiae is a habit with me and that is true even when I am getting ready for an evening out. Being immaculately turned out and getting complimented for it adds to anyone’s confidence.

Last week at the preview of my summer/resort collection, I had a lot of my friends compliment me on my look, especially my makeup. So I decided to break it down and share the how-to with you guys.

I am, thankfully, blessed with good skin, which I further care for by drinking lots of water and practising yoga. Also, as clichéd as this may sound, I truly believe that if you’re happy inside, you will radiate from the outside as well.

As a rule, I always try and test products before buying them—whether they suit my skin tone and face structure, and whether they work for my sensitive skin. So when it comes to makeup, I am brand conscious—guilty as charged! Moisturiser and sun-block are of utmost importance—I use the M.A.C. toner and an illuminating primer by Tom Ford. Then, for the base, I use Giorgio Armani—it perfectly suits my skin tone, is very light and matte, and is long-lasting. For certain areas on my face and neck, I additionally apply the Tom Ford foundation stick for a flawless glow. With the Laura Mercier loose powder and Tom Ford translucent powder, my base is set.

The clincher on this evening was the colour blue—to complement the theme of my collection and event. I lined my eyes with the Hi-Def Cyan Chroma Graphic Pencil by M.A.C. and followed it up with generous strokes of the Christian Dior Show Mascara in Electric Blue. I kept the rest of my look au naturel and dewy—a combination of the M.A.C. Myth nude lip colour, the pink long-wear M.A.C. Pro Gloss and just a bit of the Lord & Berry Skin Lip Gloss. Just a dash of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Compact Bronzer and I was good to go. The swept up hair added to the fresh, summer look I was going for.

While makeup is a God-send, without confidence, nothing looks good. Be who you are, carry yourself like you’re the queen of the world, and watch as heads turn wherever you go.
